my cd collection

why?

i wrote a blog post (dated nov. 2nd, 2025) that goes a bit more in depth on why i started doing this if you want to know why. the long story short is - phone makes me depressed, and the idea of picking out a cd to put in my cd player while i do stuff in my room is fun and exciting and feels more mindful and meaningful to me. so here we are.

hardware

i got a cool cd player off of ebay, a used yamaha crx-ts20, and it came with speakers too. i really wanted a top loading cd player that lets me see the disc spinning, so this was a fun find. it works great except the volume spinner, which was disappointing but the remote works fine so, whatever. i also want to (eventually) get another cd player for the living room. my roomate has some big speakers and a receiver that's really nice. i can also hook the yamaha one up to it but i'd have to unplug it all and move it and all that...no thanks.

the collection

my collection isn't huge, but it's definitely growing. i've been using a mix of used cds and new, all from various places. there's some cool used cd/record stores around where i live that i go check out every once in a while, and i've found a few gems around there. i've also bought some new ones, and when i travel i like to look for cd stores too (shout out easy street records in seattle - cool cd/record store that also has a cafe inside with good food).

i have these organized alphabetically by artist, and i have each album i have under the dropdowns. some of them are burned cd's by me, either mixtapes or music i bought on bandcamp and then burned. bandcamp music has been linked for your enjoyment.
